WHO'S MAMA?

Hello, my name is Erica Bishop and I am Mama! In fact, I’m the mama of two beautiful, healthy children; Harmony and Malachi. I’m also in unity with my wonderful & supportive husband Timothy, who encouraged and gave me the space to create Mama Loves Balloons. 

Post-marriage, I immediately became a stay at home mama. Believe it or not, it wasn't as easy a transition as most imagine it would be. Up until then, I was a single mother working full time and very rarely found myself in a comfortable environment. I never had the opportunity to just be, well…me!   When we found out we were pregnant we were nervous, yet excited, like most parents tend to be. Sadly, we did not get to experience our little one’s birth. Just when I started to get the hang of being home, I was forced to struggle with the grief of losing a baby we had been looking forward to preparing for.

Around the same time, my husband and daughter’s birthdays were approaching and I wanted to do something special for them. I felt the need to get my mind out of the muck it was currently in and so, using what I had (vanilla folders, an adult coloring book, and some dollar store twine christmas garland) I made my husband a banner. He was genuinely surprised and flattered by my handmade gift. This fueled my inspiration to create something using balloons for my daughter, but I had never made something with balloons before. That's when I took to Youtube university and stumbled into a binge of balloon garland tutorials. Though I wasn’t sure I’d be successful, I gave it a try and had my first garland hanging on the wall just before Harmony came home. She was speechless, and from the look on her face as I recorded her reaction, she was overjoyed! It was at that moment, my childhood love for balloons reappeared in my life.
